The Journal of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association

- Editorial Committee -

The Journal of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association is the independent voice of our Members. Reflecting the association’s multidisciplinary membership, the Journal is a centerpiece of CHOA, upholding its mandate to support the ongoing evolution of the heavy oil and oil sands community. It provides relevant, high-impact technical and business articles curated by a committee of volunteers and published individually in an engaging electronic format.

The Editorial Committee of the Journal is responsible for:

o   Identifying potential timely topics and potential authors

o   Soliciting manuscript topics from CHOA’s industry sponsors, partners, and collaborators

o   Receiving solicited and independent submissions of manuscripts

o   Working with authors to curate submitted manuscripts to final form

o   Publishing the final manuscripts

  • Committee members can conduct interviews with industry leaders for publication and publish pieces in the Journal themselves.

  • The Committee is composed of volunteers having a range of experience within the Canadian heavy oil sector, including research, geoscience and engineering, operations, and business/finance, with associated broad networks within the industry.

  • The Committee identifies and invites new members to become a part of its work.

  • The Committee meets virtually twice each month.
