ENERGY CHANGEMAKERS - Design Considerations and Operational Approach for the use of Steam Splitters in SAGD Applications

ENERGY CHANGEMAKERS present:

Design Considerations and Operational Approach for the use of Steam Splitters in SAGD Applications

Abstract:

Tubing deployed flow control devices, installed on the long injection string are commonly used by the majority of thermal SAGD operators.   From its initial introduction in the mid-2000’s, the device has maintained its basic functionality, providing operators with the ability to improve steam chamber conformance while reducing associated Cap-Ex costs associated dual parallel injection string designs.   With the drive to drill longer wellbores, the number of devices installed on the injection strings have seen significant increase, with some operators deploying >10 devices per string.  This presentation reviews specific design considerations which improve both the longevity of the device and its operational performance.
